Hmmm...still leaves me with no-one I'd vote for. I do believe we need a universal health care system and, while many are nay-sayers, even the Canadian system would be welcome, UK better (and, trust me, it is NOT what most would have you believe it to be, scaring everyone to death!). Certainly don't believe in the death penalty/capital punishment but do wish we could revamp the justice system and hold hard to stringent sentencing, no plea bargains et al. Having spent twenty+ years (as an adult) in a military environment, I want our people home from Iraq and yet, yes...do not believe we can possibly leave the Iraqi people in the mess we and our allies created. Not just this time but back in '91. I'm a pacifist, was in that military environment during Vietnam and didn't believe in that 'war' either. I'm not for being an isolationist but nor do I believe we must interfere in the cultures, traditons, religions or lives of everyone with whom we don't agree. This is what I feel creates distrust, fear and even hatred.

We need to fix ourselves...our schools, courts, healthcare, poverty, economy and I don't see anyone with a solid plan to do any of it.

Maybe I'll buy an island and live by my own rules. ;)

Interesting to read your opinion, Trina...enjoyed it.

So I’m supporting John McCain….He’s straightforward, to the point and has plenty experience in both politics and in war. So I support John McCain….I hear people saying all the time that McCain is just going to be a continuation of the “B ush” Presidencies. Whatever. I like John McCain…. [...]

Trina, you mentioned "new voters" and I'm not clear on what you meant by that but I can tell you that I'm not a new voter and you're right. The candidates we have at this moment (and too late for anyone new and exciting to pop up, I should think) are wandering back and forth over certain parts of the map so "the issues" don't seem to be apparent.

What is irking me at this juncture is "change" seems to be the mantra of all three candidates yet not one of them has explained just HOW they will change anything they believe needs changing! It's like being in the middle of a bumper car fest. Change! Where, how, when, to what??

For my money I'd take Ron Paul...only problem is, while this would appear to be the best and furthest someone with his Libertarian views has attained, we know it cannot be enough...yet....so, frankly, I'm going to abstain. And I wish there was a box on the ballot for "Abstention...and why". Only my personal opinion but I don't see a one of them who may succeed as being worthy of my vote or the highest office in the land. Some say "vote the lesser of two evils". Can't do that since the lesser of two is still 'evil' in that context. So it's not apathy, weather, forgetfulness or inability that will keep me from voting this year...it's that none seem worthy.
