I love my Woofy.

I know, it's kinda lame, but he's the best.  Woofy is a high strung, Alpha Male, timber wolf hybrid.  He's about 75-80 pounds, not a small dog by any means!  This November 17th, he'll be 9 - wow how time flies!  I remember the day we picked him out of the litter (or should I say pack)We were watching the pups play and then this one pup walked right up to his very intimidating daddy and bit him on the leg and started trying to rough-house with him.  Now, you have to know that this pup was only 3 weeks old, his daddy had dissapeared for 3 days right after the pups were born and came back with the hind quarters of a deer to feed his family.. how cool is that?

When we finally brought him home 2 weeks later he was so cute.. he looked just like a little bear cub!

Over the years we've socialized him so he's more like Scooby-Doo than his dad, so it's pretty awesome!

When I'm sad or mad or Happy or glad, he doesn't care.  Now it's all about him! "Pet me" "Rub my back" "I want what you're eating"

And my personal favorite "You're not paying enough attention to me so I'm going to rip this scrunchie out of your hair and run away"

How could I not Love That!?!

Happy Tuesday!

Memorial Day 2009

I have had many friends in the military.  Everyone has come home - safely.

I know it sounds silly, but there was this one kid in my Brothers' Boy Scouts troop.  He always made me laugh mimicking scenes from The Godfather and Silence of the Lambs "Hello Clarice" I can still hear him saying it.

When he left for the military a few years back I worried about the worst.  Such a bright and energetic young man, what would the military do for him?

Not long after he left, his mom sent everyone postcards with his mailing address and a picture of him in uniform.  (I think all mothers should be so good about that sort of thing)  His picture has been on my refrigerator ever since.  It's not in a frame or even pinned up with a magnet, just sort-of wedged above the ice maker area.  It should have fallen off the door a long time ago, not really sure why it hasn't.  But every morning when I get my coffee or when I get ice for my evening drink, there he is reminding me that Guantanamo is open, that there is a war going on, that our boys are away from their families.

Every time he visits home he always comes by.  The guys load up and go to the gun range with him to practice shooting different guns (they say practice - I think they just like to blow up the gun range!)  I think it gives my boys peice of mind that he got one more practice session in and that they get to have one more outing with him before he leaves home again.

So this memorial day, I think of him and hope that he returns home safely and soon!

Adam and Eve

I remember looking at pictures of Adam and Eve for an old Bible my Nanny had.  The pictures alway reminded me of ancient times... simple times... when people just evolved from neanderthals.

But this picture is like WOW!  It totally replaces all those old pictures of Eve in my mind.

Happy Friday!
